Hopefully you have a blender. Smoothies are a great way to get everything you need in one glass. The beauty of a smoothie is their versatility, they can be a quick meal replacement or just a healthy snack. All fruit, vegetable, nuts, berries, all green or no green, they all have some easy, digestible nutritional value.
Because smoothies are usually loaded with fruits and vegetables they provide a great source of fiber, “Fiber is an important nutrient that aids digestion by preventing constipation and supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract” (Quagliani D, et.al., (2016)
You can make them as simple or as unique as your taste desires. My personal smoothie recipe, developed out of desperation to get me through a crazy daily schedule that left no time for anything let alone eating, utilizes fruits, vegetables, yoghurt, a reputable, high quality protein powder and spirulina powder. Everything I needed, the perfect solution to quality nutrient dense calories in one glass.
Another great reason to drink a smoothie, is being able to use a small personal blender, bring your ingredients with you to make one anywhere you go.
Just hit the power button. Done and yum.
